The test we have carefully selected is the Roche SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test (the virus that causes COVID-19). A simple nasal swab delivers results in 15 minutes. In clinical trials compared with the PCR test (The type used by the HSE) it shows a 99.68% specificity and over 96.5% sensitivity. CE Approval The test has CE approval. It also exceeds the WHO performance requirements for rapid antigen testing and it falls well above the selection criteria in the recent EU commission's recommendation.
How is the test performed The test is collected from a simple nasal swab. We have a drive through facility at our medical center for minimal contact or an appointment at your business. The best benefit is results by email within 30 minutes!
How the test works A SARS-CoV-2 antigen test detects the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus from part of the upper respiratory tract swab specimens by identifying a nucleoprotein that is carried by the virus. The test identifies current infection during the acute phase of COVID-19, while the virus is still present in large quantities in the respiratory tract.
According to the ECDC rapid antigen tests can help reduce further transmission through early detection of highly infectious cases.
How is COVID-19 transmitted SARS-CoV-2 virus causes respiratory tract infection. It is transmitted mainly via respiratory droplets after close contact, and primary viral replication is presumed to occur in mucosal epithelium of the upper respiratory tract (nasal cavity and pharynx). At these locations viral load peaks within the first week after symptom onset, and then declines.
